I decided to replace my CDXGT610ui with a rear USB -AND- rear AUX after finding out that front inputs probably weren`t the best idea if you have a moose of a dog that rides up front with you on adventures like I do. After much research I once again wound up at Sony`s doorstep.
The one thing I was leery of was the display, my eyes are really light sensitive at night and I couldn`t find anything in the specs that said the background could be turned off and I don`t need any swimming Dolphins or random cityscape up in my face at night since the head unit mounts squarely in the middle of the dash. I took a chance anyways and HAPPY DAY! the menu has an option for.......Display Off, with this enabled you have no wallpapers or distracting movies just track info
(and the clock which try as I may cannot be turned off)
The annoying beep on the other hand can also easily be turned off
Another great surprise I found out after unpacking it was that they put one Aux input on a three foot cable out the back of the unit which makes it very easy to remote mount alongside the USB cable which is plenty long enough.
Flash drive load times are much improved (very fast!)
The face plate goes back into position quickly after loading a cd
The display is very readable in bright sunlight and can be dimmed at night and the button colors can be changed which is a nice feature at night as well.
It pulls in radio stations like a champ.
Sound quality? WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The DM+ and DSO make all the difference in the world and once you get the filters set up right for whatever speakers/system you`re running I doubt you`ll find anything that sounds better even with some extra add on module that unlocks some supersecret hidden eq settings.
My system is pretty basic.......
The head unit goes through an Alpine ERE G180 passive EQ, passes through an Infinity four channel and a Dual mono amp into stock tweets, Dual 6 1/2`s, 6X9`s and two 12`s and the sound quality is phenominal with CD`s, flash drives and a Rockboxed Sansa
Gotta say though, not a big fan of the volume knob controlling other functions but so far it hasn`t been that big of a deal. The "back" feature is very handy and the controls are well laid out and easy to use quick search is awsome showing folders and individual file names in those folders for those times you`ve gotta hear that one song. Plenty of Low Level outs this time (thank you thank you)
I am very pleased with this unit
Sony did an excellent job on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Alpine, ya priced me right out of your gear :(

It's all about connections--the CDX-GT930UI is Sony's first car stereo that can connect directly to iPod players, other digital music players and USB thumb drives. That's on top of 52 Watts high power through 4 channels, a full-featured CD player, MP3/WMA/AAC playback, AM/FM radio, and a front panel auxiliary input. For further expansion, the CDX-GT930UI is compatible with Sony's Satellite radio tuner and HD radio tuner. It's bound to become an indispensable tool in the fight against insanity during rush hour.

Motorized Detachable Faceplate The CDX-GT930UI features a motorized detachable faceplate with black 13-segment LCD display. Switchable blue, red, or green key illumination makes control in the dark a snap, and lets you pick your style.

45 Degree Install Most Sony CD receivers feature a 45 degree maximum mounting angle, allowing them to be used in virtually any custom or unusual installation.

Front Panel Aux In The auxiliary input is built right in to the face of the head unit, so to use external devices like MP3 players, all you need to do is plug-n-play. USB 1-Wire With the addition of USB 1-wire functionality on select Sony CD receivers, you can easily expand your digital music player's options in your system. USB 1-wire receivers allow you to connect, charge, and control many digital music players including iPod, iPhone, Walkman music player, and even USB thumb drives directly from the head units, all from one wire.
iPod Direct By connecting an iPod to the USB port, you can listen to all your favorite iPod tunes on your car speakers. Once connected, the iPod will turn on, and it'll resume where you last left off. Enjoy full control of the iPod from the CDX-GT930UI, and while the car is on, your iPod will get a charge, so it'll be ready to go when you're back on foot.

USB Support Insert a USB thumb drive in the front panel USB port and enjoy your favorite digital audio files.
The CDX-GT930UI gives you the freedom to choose your format. Whether it's burnt to disc or on your USB drive, you'll enjoy playback of MP3, WMA, and AAC formats.
You also get ID3 tag support--title, artist and album info will be scrolled across the LCD.

Get Zapped with ZAPPIN While enjoying your iPod, or USB tunes, you can give ZAPPIN a try. Sony's unique ZAPPIN technology operates similarly to most car stereos' scan buttons. It continues to play a series of short music clips from your own music library until you can find your favorite song to match your mood.

Ready for SAT and HD Radio Using separate Sony adapters you can add an HD radio tuner, or add Satellite Radio for a wealth of channels of music, news, talk shows, sports and traffic information with CD quality sound.
AM/FM Radio Always have your favorite stations at hand with 18 FM and 12 AM presets.
Best Tuning Memory Setting your radio presets can be a real pain while you're driving--especially if you're in an unfamiliar area. So, let the tuner do the work for you by activating the Best Tuning Memory (BTM) function. The tuner will seek out up to 18 of the strongest stations in the area and set them into the tuner presets.
Sound Performer The CDX-GT930UI features a 24-Bit D/A converter, which oversamples the digital signal, creating a more natural sound and better imaging.
Dial in your sound using Sony's EQ3 parametric equalization, with 7 presets offering a wide variety of solutions, or make individual Low/Mid/High adjustments.

For more power, use the front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs for use with external amplification.
Wireless Remote Included is an ergonomic remote to be used while watching the road.
