(More customer reviews)'Don't know about you, but Amazon Reviews play an important role in my buying deliberations. They have been, mostly, very helpful. I am grateful to Customers who take the time and effort to write them. I wish there had been one for this Sunsational Awning Product.
This Awning is unsatisfactory for me in several ways. First, mine does not "Drape" so neatly as shown on the Order Screens. It isn't badly wrinkled, but it does wrinkle along the Top & both sides and across the entire width.
Also, I needed a Helper to actually install the Awning (not mentioned anywhere that I saw). It is awkward to single-handedly try to maneuver a 6 foot "Sail" filled with Steel Rods -- which might just poke through the Window or who knows? I had to arrange for help twice.
It took 3 tries before we could get it clamped properly -- with minimum wrinkles and solid grip. This is due to the Clamping mechanisms and the way they grip the Awning Fabric with the inserted "Head Rod". And, also, the Rod is over an inch narrower than the Awning Fabric.
This appearance shortcoming is due, in my opinion, to both engineering of the Parts, and to unusually poor assembly and installation instructions. But, I am not an Engineer; just a Customer trying to get some shade. It took too long, and too much difficulty getting here.
The Assembly and Installation instruction sheet is mind numbingly poor IMO. The Parts List, (for one example) identifies "8 Frame Pipes", but there are four different configurations of these Pipe Parts. The Manufacturer sent the wrong replacement Part for one Defective Pipe requiring me to go through the whole replacement "process" twice, and delaying an already long wait to install for 2 more Weeks.
The Instructions themselves are poorly done: confusing in places, sometimes contradictory, and each step is in English, French & Spanish. One example: the [Optional] -- really, a Pull Cord is optional? The Drawing shows installing to "Pull" on the left side. The Text describes putting it on the Right side, with a final thought: "(substitute left for right to reverse side you wish to operate from)."
There are 12 blurry, poor quality Photos -- only 6 of which are linked to the Assembly Steps. However, the poor quality and content of all of these Photos lead me to think they were clipped from a Magazine and then photo copied & pasted in. They are of an entirely different Awning.
12 Screws are required & provided. The 12th Screw was defective: no slots for a Screw Driver.
They also warn you that you need to actually "Remove awning during extremely windy or cold weather ... " and " ... in the winter to increase it's life expectancy." I'm betting on the Wind. Yet, there is no way I plan to remove and reinstall that Awning again. Maybe the Wind will rip it off & solve the problem. Either way, it's there for it's life. I will raise it during high Winds, & hope the 3 Pulleys hold -- using the [optional] Pull Cord.
I did not enjoy the entire process of buying, assembling and installing this product, but the Seller's Return Policies would have forced me to eat almost $20.00 PLUS the cost (another $10-20.00) and hassle of "returning it" for possible refund of the "remainder". They specifically will not provide a Return Label.
I urge you to read all of the Seller's Policies before placing an order. I didn't. And regret it.
Finally, to be fair, there is a positive part in all of this. The Awning is now covering the Window, and is shading the Glass. I think it is helping to reduce the temperature in the Room. So, would I buy another Sunsational Brand Product? Not a chance.
