I wanted to improve the sound of my stock 1999 F150 system without breaking the budget, these speakers are the perfect solution. The installation was sweet, all four speakers were installed in about an hour. Set the tweeter control to 0db, and don't forget to use the supplied foam sealing tape, I did, and the bass was weak, after going back to the directions, I saw my mistake, big difference. The sound is nothing short of spectacular. Sweet clean highs without harshness, articulate midrange without being too forward, nice taut bass without over emphasis. If you have a little extra to spend, I highly recommend the Infinity Reference 6820cs (component system) for the fronts, only because this F150 (1997-2003) has a perfect location for that separate tweeter. You can't go wrong with Infinity.
The worse thing you can say about these speakers is how much you will notice how lame your stock head is: my research has singled out the Kenwood KDC-HD942U as the best choice for the money: 25 watts X 4, iPod integration, HD radio built-in, 6 pre-amp outs for four speakers + sub. The Infinity Reference 475a looks to be the likely upgrade after that.
