(More customer reviews)When my other canopy tent broke, after 2 years of farmers market use, I almost cheered, it was so hard to set up. Then I found that that brand, and Caravan, were rated the best on the market. This did nothing to cheer me. So I tried the Caravan Commercial 10x10, and while I'm not in love, it promises to be the best thing out there in it's price range. The totally great thing about it is the metal that the frame is made of - it slides up REALLY EASILY and smoothly, you do not have to be a pro weight lifter to get all the mechanisms to work almost effortlessly. After almost dislocating a shoulder and pulling muscles trying to raise the other one (and I do alot of sports), I am elated with the action on the Caravan frame. The canopy fits well and seems to be of a rugged material. Unfortunately, that means Heavy, so plan on a smooth stick or something to support and place it on the frame, which is best done when the frame is partially up in order to position the reinforced center right on the center post. The reinforced part could be a bit larger to make this easier. As it is, with my 50 year old knees, I have to crawl under the half opened frame to center the canopy, then crawl out again. Still not too bad, as once it's lightly attached, with the requisite helper or two (yeah these tents are not for people who run their booths alone), it raises like a dream.
Complaints. As well as it is made, the feet thru which the stakes go are plastic, and one of mine cracked the second time, not boding well for staking strength in truly windy conditions. Guess they want you to buy the weight system. The other surprising pain is the carry bag, which looks wonderful and is ruggedly built, with all kinds of zippers and buckles. It needs to fit the frame much more tightly; as is is it flops around with everything in it and makes it hard to roll anywhere as it is difficult to make everything hit and stay in the bottom. And you need to be a professional canopy folder in order to get the fabric part back into the bag ever again. It's possible, but really time consuming.
Because I get to see the pretty awful selection that is out there when I see what my neighbors have to deal with in tents at the shows, I am a realist, and this tent is the best in its class that I have seen. I'll say I am satisfied, but would like to see more effort from the maufacturers to make these tents set up without a circus strongman around or a repacking expert to help pack the carry bag.
