When you read the specs, it looks very nice - but here are the problems:
1. The loud setting (bass-boost) is broken. The base-boost cuts off temporarily every time you change tracks or press almost any other button. It gets restored when you adjust the volume afterwards. Exact behavior is different with CD playback vs. MP3 playback. It's a firmware bug. I kept fumbling with the audio settings and scratching my head until I realized it's defective. Eventually I added a powered sub, so I stopped using the bass-boost.
2. CD and MP3 playback skips a lot - totally unacceptable in this day and age. It's not related to physical movement. It skips while the car is parked on level ground and the engine is off. Interestingly, I haven't seen it skip while playing a DVD. More than 95% of the time I spend in my car is driving listening to music, not parked watching a DVD, so the skipping is a major problem.
Other annoyances:
1. The LCD panel (displayed when the screen is retracted) is impossible to read in broad daylight because it's too glossy and doesn't have enough contrast.
2. The joystick on the right side of the unit is frustrating to use. It's easy to accidentally to push it in (pause) when you're trying to tilt it left or right (prev/next track).
3. Fan noise is annoying.
4. Certain battery-powered video sources (like the Namco joystick with Ms Pacman/Galaga/etc) play fine through a TV but won't play through this unit. I get sound but no picture.
I contacted Jensen tech support about these issues and was told to exchange the unit with the seller. Received a replacement with the exact same problems. I've since been getting the runaround.
Bottom line: Jensen crammed too many cheap parts in too small of a package. I wish I'd spent a few hundred $'s more on something that actually works. I cannot rate this product low enough.
